Shelby County ranks as the healthiest county in Alabama for 2015.

Shelby County added nearly 2,500 new residents from July 2013 to July 2014, according to population estimates released on March 25, making it one of the fastest-growing counties in Alabama. 

An annual report on the health and well-being of Alabama children found higher rates of childhood poverty in 2014 – and put the usual suspects at the top and bottom of county rankings.
