Amy joined 58 INC. in January 2021 with more than 20 years of public and private sector work with communities in Alabama and Illinois. Her roles have included directing planning and economic development for the City of Madison, Alabama, bolstering corporate and manufacturing jobs, drawing retail to both downtown and corridors. She also worked recruiting bioscience startups and companies for HudsonAlpha to the biotech campus in Cummings Research Park in Huntsville. Prior to relocating to Alabama in 2009, Amy served as a community consultant, municipal development director, and EDO executive director, serving more than 20 communities in the Chicagoland area, in and around her hometown of St. Charles, IL. Amy brings the spirit of teamwork and collaboration to each project underpinned with a guiding principle to add lasting value to our communities with each project, seeking win-win scenarios for communities and those investing in them. Amy holds undergraduate degrees from Miami University in Ohio in Architecture and Interdisciplinary Studies. She also continued to graduate studies at University of Illinois (Urban-Champaign) in Urban and Regional Planning as well as Architecture with a Management option. In addition to her professional organization memberships, Amy serves on the board of both BIO Alabama and Southeast Life Sciences - connecting companies, investors and entrepreneurial talent and has served as an Alabama Launchpad Judge.

Melody WhittenDirector of Development

Melody Whitten
Director of Development

Melody has a diverse background in economic and workforce development having served in positions with the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, Snead State Community College, the City of Albertville and the Alabama Department of Commerce Workforce Development Division. Through these roles she has had the opportunity to facilitate, implement and manage a wide range of local and regional development activities while gaining valuable experience in retail and industrial recruitment along with workforce training initiatives. Melody has been at 58 INC since 2017 where she’s successfully facilitated several development projects while also standing up a consortium style US DOL registered apprenticeship program in machining and welding for the Birmingham region. Melody received her Bachelor of Arts from Jacksonville State University, completed the Auburn University Intensive Economic Development Course and recently acquired an Alabama Real Estate license. She is also currently attending The University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute. Melody is a member of EDAA, ICSC, represents Shelby County on the WIOA Board for Region 4 and was recently appointed by Governor Ivey to the Alabama Committee on Credentialing and Career Pathways.

Jackson is experienced in industrial recruitment, business retention and expansion, and workforce development. He comes to 58 INC. after serving as Vice President of Business Development and Support at the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and Project Manager at The Shelby County Economic and Industrial Development Authority. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from Auburn University. Jackson is a graduate of the Auburn University Government & Economic Development Institute and The University of Alabama Economic Development Academy. He was also selected for The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Business Leads Education & Workforce Fellowship in 2019.
